The harness and switch are used to tell the motor when to stop in a cleaning cycle. Don’t worry, these parts are simple to replace. Let's get started!
Tools Needed:
Phillips/crosshead screwdriver

Step 1 - Getting Started
1. First, you'll need to bypass the system by pushing the handle IN on the back of your unit. This stops water from coming in or out of the system while you work.
2. Next, go ahead and unplug your softener from the power outlet.
3. Now, remove the top cover by unhooking the 2 clips that hold it onto the tank. By pulling the back of the cover out and away from your unit, the clips will release.
Step 2 - Disconnect Existing Parts
1. Looking at the top of the valve, you'll notice the wire harness has two connections. The green and orange wires connect to the switch. Go ahead and remove the white plug from the switch.
2. The other side of the wire harness (red connector piece) plugs in to the back your control board. Find the red plastic connector on your control board and unplug it.
3. Next, you'll remove the old switch. Take your screwdriver and remove the two screws holding the black motor on.
4. Then, remove the three screws holding the motor plate (reference the pic above), so you have access to the black switch. Some units will have a plastic cap rather than a motor plate. The switch is attached to the cap.
5. Lastly, remove the two screws holding the Switch in place (reference the pic above). If you don’t see screws on yours, no worries, continue onto the next step.
Step 3 - Reconnecting New Parts
1. Time to put the new parts on. Place the new Switch on the valve head and secure it with the two screws.
2. Attach the motor plate or plastic cap and secure with the three screws.
3. Now, attach the Motor on top with the two motor screws.
4. Take your new wire harness and attach the white connector piece to the switch. The orange wire should be on the outside. The front-right metal prong on the switch isn’t used.
5. Plug the new red connector onto the control board. Make sure the wires are running away from the control board. The red connector should sit flush with the white plastic piece on the board.
6. Place the top cover back on.
7. Go ahead and plug the power cord back into the outlet.
8. Last step! Pull the bypass handle back OUT to allow water flow through the system. You're done!
