What is KCl?
KCl (Potassium Chloride), can be used in our water softening systems as an alternative for regular (NaCl) sodium salt. KCl is most commonly used in households that have dietary restrictions on sodium intake. If sodium output is a concern, please note that when using NaCl salt, a small amount of sodium is added to your softened product water.
Programming Your Softener for KCl Use
Depending on your model, you may have a menu option specifically for Salt Type. Check for this option by scrolling through the menu using the Select button. You will likely see 'NaCl' as the default option.
1. Press the Up/Down arrows to switch to the 'KCl' salt type.
2. If you do not have this setting, you'll need to add 25% to the hardness number to account for the alternative KCl salt type.
