What is KCI?
KCl (Potassium Chloride) is a type of salt that can be used in our water softening systems as an alternative for regular (NaCl) sodium salt. It's most commonly used in households that need to watch their sodium intake. If you're concerned about sodium levels, keep in mind that using regular NaCI salt does add a small amount of sodium to your softened water.
Make Sure to Program Your Softener for KCl Salt Use
1. Depending on your model, you may have a menu option specifically for Salt Type. Go ahead and check for this option by pressing the Select button multiple times to scroll through the menu:
2. If you have that option, you'll press the Up/Down arrows to choose the appropriate salt type.
3. If you do not have this setting, you'll need to add 25% to your current hardness number to account for the alternative KCl salt type.
