Wondering if the foam float is sitting in the right place? Let's learn about it below!
How It Works
The float assembly is located in the brinewell on your softener, and allows water to enter/exit the salt tank. The float is designed as a backup in case the softener ever fills with too much water. In that case, the float would move up with the water level until it reached the top. The water pressure would push the float up against the rubber stopper and ceramic weight on top. This blocks any water from entering the tank.
Where Should it Sit?
The float moves freely between two rubber stoppers on the plastic stem (picture shown below). These stoppers are preset to the appropriate heights and don't need be moved. The ceramic weight and rubber stopper (pieces above the foam float) should sit only a few inches below the top of the assembly.
