Need to replace the brinewell? We've got you! The brinewell provides a safety net for the float assembly, keeping it clean and free of salt. Follow the steps below to replace it.
Tools Needed: Bucket, Pliers (optional)

Before You Start
- You'll need to remove all the salt from inside the basin and set it aside to refill later. You'll want to put it in a bucket for now. You should dispose any large solidified chunks of salt.
1. First, you'll want to bypass the softener by pushing the handle IN on the back of your unit. This will stop water from coming in or out of the softener while you work:
2. Go ahead and remove the top cover.
- On the back of the unit, you'll unhook the two clips that hold the cover onto the tank below (see photo below). Flex/pull the cover out and away from the softener at these clips.
- There are two similar clips holding the front of the cover on as well. Slide the cover towards you to release these clips. Be careful not to disconnect any wires. It's normal for the plastic cover to produce some noise as it shifts and bends.
3. Now, you'll disconnect the Brine hose from the Venturi (white cone piece). Identify yours below.
- If yours has a white nut attached to the Venturi: unscrew the nut by twisting it counter-clockwise and pull the hose off.
- If your hose doesn't have that white nut, you'll need to push the small collet piece in and pull the hose out at the same time to remove.
4. Take a look at the brinewell and notice where it's secured both inside the rim and on the bottom of the tank. Right under the rim, squeeze the brinewell to release it from the clips. This will allow you to pull the entire brinewell up and out. The brinewell also houses the float assembly, which will come out with it. You can set both of these to the side while you work.
5. Now you'll need to slide the new brinewell tube into the hole in the rim. The bottom of it will sit snug inside the molded bottom of the salt tank.
6. Take the float assembly and hose from the old brinewell and insert them into the new one. The float assembly will sit at the bottom of the well.
7. Now you can reattach the brine hose to the venturi.
- Either screw the white nut back on by twisting it clock-wise (you may want to use a pliers to twist it back on lightly):
- Or insert the hose into the collet. You'll need to make sure to push it in until you notice some resistance. Then push it in a little further. The hose should be in about 5/8 of an inch.
8. At this point, you can carefully put the salt back into the tank. Make sure not to get any in the brinewell tube you just replaced - you don't want salt in there. We recommend filling the tank up with salt to no more than the 4 or 5 on the brinewell scale.
9. Once you've got all your salt back in, you can place the top cover back on the softener. Start by securing the front, then push down in back to secure the clips.
10. Lastly, you can take the softener OUT of bypass by pulling the handle back out.

1. First, you'll want to bypass the softener by pushing the handle IN on the back of your unit. This will stop water from coming in or out of the softener while you work:
2. Next, you'll need to open up the salt lid cover and remove the circular cap from the brinewell tube. Inside the well, you'll see the brine hose leading down into the float assembly.
3. You'll want to pull the brine hose up and out, until the entire float assembly is outside of the brinewell tube. You can set it in the tank while you work.
4. You'll notice the brinewell is attached to the salt tank by a screw and wingnut. Go ahead and remove these to free the well.
5. Install the new brinewell tube by resting it on the bottom of the tank while you attach the new hardware. Insert the screw into the right side of the salt tank with the threads facing into the tank.
6. Find the screw hole on the side of the brinewell and push it onto the screw. The screw threads should stick through to the inside of the brinewell.
7. Reach your hand inside the well and attach the wingnut to the screw and tighten. You can wiggle the brinewell now to confirm it'll stay in place.
8. Go ahead and put the float assembly back in the brinewell. It should sit on the bottom of the brinewell, with the black brine hose inserted into the notch on the top rim of the well.
9. You can place the circle cover back on the brinewell now.
10. At this point, you can refill the tank with the salt you removed. We recommend not filling above the 4 or 5 on the brinewell scale.
11. Last step is to take the softener out of bypass by pulling the handle back OUT.
